NASHVILLE, TN (June 24, 2013) – The Annie Moses Band’s Fine Arts Summer Academy, the Southeast’s leading pop/classical summer arts program and one of the largest educational arts events in Music City, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The two week summer arts program (July 13-25), hosted and sponsored by Lipscomb University, welcomes over 200 aspiring young artists from around the world to study with classically trained teachers from major arts conservatories and universities including Juilliard School in Manhattan, Berklee School of Music, Cincinnati Conservatory among others. The Academy will conclude with a final world-class Gala, Rhapsody In Bluegrass, with the Summer Pops Young Artist Symphony and Chorus performing a spectacular original show with the Annie Moses Band – the Juilliard-trained, Nashville-native pop string band of PBS fame, country music hit-maker Jimmy Wayne and Grammy winning Ron Block.
Rhapsody in Bluegrass will be held Thursday, July 25 at 7:30 pm at the Grand Ole Opry House. Tickets are $25 and available now
“We began this program 10 years ago out of the desire to help young artists and their families who struggle to navigate their artistic development.” says Annie of the Annie Moses Band. “The Academy is unique because it teaches classical chops but applies them in a commercial music setting, helping students learn what it means to make their art accessible to modern audiences.”
Rhapsody In Bluegrass is no fireside music camp finale — it is one of the most compelling and unique musical events of the year. Rhapsody In Bluegrass marries a blow out big band with a soaring string orchestra, alongside an 80 voice chorale, pop vocal ensembles, sensational soloists and a dance company led by a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York. With performances of never-before-heard arrangements as well as original songs and compositions by award-winning writers, it could be the best-kept musical secret in Nashville.
The Fine Arts Summer Academy began in 2003 and is the flagship event of Annie Moses Ministries, the foundation established by members of the Annie Moses Band to further their mission of educating young people toward artistic excellence.
